Wealthy House Painter tip #16
By Terry | March 31, 2010
Many shady painters will write out a few general things they plan to do. Then they’ll scribble out a price at the bottom of their estimate. After that they’ll proceed to tell the customer just what they think they want to hear. Most have little intention of doing any of what they promised if they’re left unsupervised. Customers are understandably leery about this.
Writing out a detailed job proposal is like telling the story of how you plan to paint their home from start to finish. Think about the step-by-step methods you use to paint a customer’s home. Then write down each of those steps in your proposal.
Create an air of excitement first by telling the homeowner how your company prepares the surface of their home. Whether you’re cleaning, sanding, priming, or even caulking or a combination of these put it in writing. Surface preparation is very important to homeowners. They know half of a good paint job that looks great and lasts is in the surface prep. Be sure they know that surface preparation is important to you as well.
